Drug Rehab

Drug Rehab

Selecting a drug rehab centre is a difficult decision to face. Few of us know what to look for in a quality rehab programme and all drug rehabilitation centres differ and have their own "personality". Each drug rehab has its own therapeutic programme, staff levels & qualifications, accommodation (on or off site), cost, and effectiveness, etc.

A drug rehabilitation treatment centre may offer a variety of treatment programmes that meet individual needs, or be established to treat everyone as a group (both methods are effective). Programmes may include inpatient, residential, outpatient, and/or short-stay options.

The difference between inpatient and a residential treatment centre is that inpatient services are provided by a licensed hospital, while residential programs usually do not meet the same standards of medical care and are more therapeutically based. Please note that both of these models are very effective and that a different client will respond differently to a different model.

The length of stay depends on the severity of the addiction, although those with a painkiller or prescription medication addiction may well take significantly longer to detoxify than other cases.

How much does a drug rehab centre cost?

"How much does it cost?" is often one of the first questions asked when someone calls a drug rehabilitation programme.

The cost of a drug rehab treatment episode depends upon which type of rehab you choose. You'll need to know what is included, what will be added to your bill as an extra fee programme, and whether your health insurance will cover all or part of the costs. This makes it extremely difficult to compare prices by simply asking the question - "What does rehab cost?" The best way to find out the range of costs for rehab is to talk to each Admissions department. You can discuss your specific financial concerns and they will help you narrow down your choices to what may best meet your circumstances. However, some facilities may only offer one type of service, where as others will have a range of options. To alleviate this, we have done most of this research for you.

Please note that generally speaking inpatient treatment services are considerably more expensive that residential rehabs, though statistics do not show either model to be more effective. If you are seeking the best value for your treatment monies, then please remember that price can be meaningful only in the context of each particular rehab's quality and performance.

Also remember that the cost of drug addiction and alcoholism, if not treated, can far exceed the cost of treatment.

What is the degree of family involvement in a drug rehab programme?

Drug addiction and alcoholism affects the entire family, not just the person who initially presents with the addiction. Quite often family members do not realise just how deeply they have been affected by their loved one's addiction problems. Family involvement is an important component of someone's recovery.

Drug Rehabs all over the world vary in the degree and quality of family involvement opportunities. Some offer just a few lectures and others offer full family therapy. Ask if there is any time devoted to family programmes and if family group therapy is included. Some centres will charge extra for these services.

Does drug treatment include any type of Aftercare?

There are no quick fixes for the diseases of addiction - drugs or alcohol. Recovery is an ongoing process. The skills one learns during intensive rehabilitation treatment must be integrated into everyday life and this takes time to adjust and make changes.

Drug rehabilitation treatment programmes should include an Aftercare programme as standard, that supports and monitors further recovery, post primary care treatment.

The decision to enter a drug rehab program can be a very difficult and painstaking process. If you are confused by the many choices on offer, then please call one of our advisors on 0845 686 0337 - today.

Drug (and Alcohol) Detoxification before rehabilitation.

Prolonged Drug (and alcohol) abuse can create profound changes in your brain and body chemistry. That's why one of the first steps in any drug (and alcohol) addiction recovery process will be to detoxify from these poisonous chemicals and their by-products. There are several types of drug detoxification facilities (and alcohol detoxification facilities) available such as outpatient detox programmes and rapid 5 day detox programmes, but the detox programmes that have been proven to be the safest and most effective are referred to as "medically based inpatient detox programmes".
